Death Battle Predictions: Soldier Boy vs Peacemaker

"Peace is more important than all justice; and peace was not made for the sake of justice, but justice for the sake of peace." ― Martin Luther

Soldier Boy, America's first superhero from The Boys and the Vought-proclaimed Supe-Terrorist.

Peacemaker, the world-class marksman of DC's Suicide Squad who'll fight for peace at any cost.

War is caused by the faces of injustice and refusal to stand down against prejudice or pain, and when it comes down to it, the efforts of war can scar a man. Eventually, those who've been hurt by war enough will descend to a state where they might break away mentally- and in certain cases, this might be the origin story for many vigilantes in stories. In particular, this is the main theme of these two characters and their ideals.

Going on their own personal wars, they fight against terrorists and criminal scum as a way to bring their own ideas of justice to people, fighting for the values they've grown to adore. Granted the tragedies these two have fallen through and the constant breed of fake emotional support, this is the only thing they can hold close in their heart anymore. Ultimately, their emotions will have to be pushed aside when these two super-soldiers face off in a DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Begin…

For this blog we’ll be using Soldier Boy from The Boys TV show in particular and Peacemaker from the Post-Flashpoint storylines especially when he began adapting his DCEU personality which we’ll reference items that parallel between both incarnations later. This means that we won’t be referencing from works from before the Flashpoint, such as the original Charlton Comics Peacemaker, meaning you aren’t getting Herald level Peacemaker here today. That’s about it, though.

Background

Soldier Boy

“What’s black and white and red all over? Okay, first off. I don’t have shell shock, fuck you. Second, this is what I’m talking about. This is being a soldier.”

Raised from poverty, Soldier Boy learned at a young age the cruelties of the world as he learned the values of hard work in poverty. These were the values of human spirit that he was brought up to learn- leading to him progressing into becoming a hero embodying the values of America’s freedom that he held at his core since birth…

At least, that’s what we were told. In truth, the man known as Soldier Boy was born under the identity of Benjamin. He was born in a high class household where he was constantly spoiled- yet also physically abused. Because of his father’s unknown hatred for his son, he sent the boy at a young age away into school- however this brought even more disappointment to his father when he struggled to meet his father’s expectations. With this notion, Ben would do anything to make his father appreciate him- which led to him enlisting into the US military to do so. Using his father’s contacts, he’d even gone into superhuman tests that came with the Compound V invention- an experiment that brought the man immense power. Now taking up the name Soldeir Boy, he became a highly important combatant in the war, becoming a superhero recognized across the states, and even more so, highly famous. Used in marketing by Vought America, he became prestigious and an expensive asset towards the company through his appeal towards almost every person, a detail renowned even further as Vought created stories of his war and Soldier Boy himself placed himself in the ways of wartime. He finally felt accomplished with himself even with the lies he was built upon, which gave him the intention to return home to his father, filled with the pride of his accomplishments now believing himself to be worthy of the love he was shunned from in his early life. However, his father did not share this idea- disappointed even more and seeing his son as a weak, cheating pussy, which did not support Soldier Boy’s mindset at all. This led to Soldier Boy continuing to develop himself as a hero out of opposition, becoming more renowned as he developed… which hadn’t helped him. With this now coming to his head, Soldier Boy became a vigilante who spread violence all across where he roamed, not only working under Vought to take down those who opposed them but worked on his own accord, too. With this, he became the leader of a superhero team known as “Payback” as he chased down a zealous pursuit for justice, and his popularity as a celebrity increased even more so. However, not all things were fine and dandy at this time, with Soldier Boy’s bottled up hatred towards his team and the teams intention to take down Soldier Boy increased- leading to a betrayal during a Soviet mission where they collectively had to use their powers to take him down and yet still struggled. Using a special gas that could kill the average person, however, they were able to knock Soldier Boy unconscious and sent him to the Soviets, leading to Soldier Boy to disappear. Covered up as a symbol of justice in his sacrifice by Vought, he was honored by the general public despite the horrid truth of the actions in question. However, while Soldier Boy had been implied to have died, this was far from the truth. He was brought to Russia and experimented upon- constantly treated horribly as to figure out his limits in strength and durability. With this treatment, Soldier Boy was eventually able to break free but had been locked away as to prevent him from doing so once more- which did work. This led to him only being released years later by a group known as the Boys, which took him finally into a new world where he was immediately overwhelmed by everything he saw. After he made his way back to Crimson Countess, a former member of Payback who was the only person he had eyes for, and had revealed the hidden hatred that they all held for Soldier Boy, he blew her up and ran off, regrouping back with the Boys. Aligning with them, Soldier Boy was going to be supported to kill off the remaining members of Payback as a way to take revenge after they sent him off to the Russians, and in turn Soldier Boy was going to kill Homelander- a goal that he pursued after doing so.
But, even with this alliance, Soldier Boy not only opposed Homelander later down the line but even the Boys- leading to him trying to kill everyone around him in the end. Holding this intention until the very end, Soldier Boy while fighting the Boys attempts to blow up everyone, refusing to be experimented on again after they tried to knock him unconscious as Payback did before. This wasn’t too successful, however, as Queen Maeve sacrifices herself, tackling Soldier Boy out of the tower, leading to him blowing up the surroundings around them and leading Soldier Boy to be locked away once more after he lost control. Ultimately, Soldier Boy’s character was shown the truth to the public with his devastation- destroying his public image as the celebrity status he was built up and given fell apart through his horrible actions and vigilante murders.

Peacemaker

“I'm not sure how eating something would contribute to peace but yes, I would. I would do anything for peace. I'd eat a bucket of poop.” At a young age, Christopher Smith was always intended on being pushed into the face of combat, a lifestyle brought upon by his father. The careless drunkard that Chris grew up with often pushed the boy into solitude, with the only things he’d give him at a young age being the mechanisms of combat. Because of this, the boy never grew up with the right things in life, leaving to a steady decline downwards as he grew up, living in solitude from all of the people he could’ve made friends with as he couldn’t deal with anything else. This all changed, however, as the boy identified himself with the values of war as he grew up, finding a way to easily balance himself in his intentions of fighting, as his father intended, as well as allowing him to progress as a person. This lead to him adopting the idea of becoming a ‘Peacemaker’, if you will. This Peacemaker identity lead to Christopher becoming a lawful vigilante who aspired to bring down all terrorists, aligning himself with the Spec Ops unit in the Suicide Squad as he progressed as a vigilante. This brought him happiness as he finally found people he thought he could vibe with- becoming an experienced combatant as he spent time taking down terrorists. On one of his missions after pushing away from Amanda Waller’s influence, Peacemaker took down a terrorist squad and encountered an absolutely adorable dog who looked like it had a suit on- giving it the name Bruce Wayne as he adopted it. Peacemaker thought he’d finally reached happiness and tranquility in life having a pet, a best friend accompanying him through all of the struggles he felt like he had making friends- but this hadn’t stayed forever. After being mysteriously kidnapped when Peacemaker went onto a grocery store trip, he was brought to the Mind who manipulated him- alongside the Mind’s lover Mallah, a hyper-intelligent gorilla- under his wing by faking a friendship with the man. Invading a high-security hidden base alongside Mallah and obtaining powerful DNA that the brain wished to use in his grand villainous scheme, Peacemaker is betrayed and shot right when the two leave. This seemed to leave Peacemaker as good as dead, however he’s able to stand right back up and initiate his plan- to do anything to get back with his pet. However, while Peacemaker is at first opposed by his parole officer, once he reveals his ambition he gets help from Michael- a former superhero known as the Red Bee from the second World War. Leading alongside the Red Bee, the two opposed the Brain, getting in the way of Colombian supervillain Snowflame along their path, as well as eventually interfering with the Brain’s plan to change his body. Travelling across the state at this rate, the confrontation leads to Red Bee finding out the truth: the Mind was the man who killed all of his comrades. While Peacemaker wanted to keep his friend safe, he takes back his dog from the Brain as Red Bee sacrifices himself to save the world from the Brain who took the form of a Chemo creature, a being of pure toxic waste given conscious thought. With Red Bee sacrificing himself with the giant wheel that the Brain wielded in the same war that killed the golden age superhero’s comrades, he left Peacemaker with a lasting message. Pushing Peacemaker into acknowledging that people were there for him, all across his life, he finally celebrates his birthday alongside all of his comrades, including the people who looked upon him before. Developed his own lifestyle and beliefs, beyond anyone else’s influence, Peacemaker went right back to working with Amanda Waller and bringing peace no matter the cost. Fighting against people like the Doom Patrol, the Garro invasion, and many others, Peacemaker has dedicated the rest of his life to keeping the peace. After all, the ‘name’ Peacemaker is far more than just a name, it’s his goal and everything he strives for in life, even if that means war or death must come in the way to bring it.

Experience and Skill

Soldier Boy

While Soldier Boy has a lot of his background shrouded in questionable case files, the greatest American soldier has a ton of history and extensive experience to cover. Not only was he moderately experienced in his appearance for World War II, having participated in military training programs extensively and Vought’s own superhero programs. Soldier Boy’s experience didn’t cut it off there, either, as he was later put into experienced Black Ops programs for Vought, taking down riots and supposedly even being responsible for JFK’s assassination and never being caught for it. Later, Soldier Boy would become a vigilante all across America which would actually lead to his capture when Payback fought against his dominance. Even so, Soldier Boy maintained his skill even when he was imprisoned by the Russians, re-emerging with his combat skill intact being able to dominate the Boys and various Supes in his fights with them.

Peacemaker

Peacemaker is generally a very skilled fighter. Beyond being trained in combat from birth with how to wield guns and fight as well as later military and Suicide Squad work, being capable enough to take on heavily skilled opponents or large groups of enemies with just his bare hands and sheer power. Peacemaker’s experience doesn’t stop at skill, either, having fought people through insane degrees of willpower- covering himself in shit to save his dog Bruce Wayne, taking on the Demolition Crew with his sheer array of skills when he couldn’t fight or harm them, and has even taken on trained fighters like Nightwing matching him with his sheer skill or taking on large numbers of aliens or superopowered humans with his gunfire alone.

Weapons

Soldier Boy

Hero Costume

Issued years prior, Soldier Boy is well equipped with his costume that he’s brought into countless fights. Usually well-equipped with knives and his shield, Soldier Boy is prepared for many forms of combat, particularly working best at close-quarters with his on-person arsenal. Speaking of his shield, though…

Shield

Used by Soldier Boy in his times seeing wartime, having American patriotic images engrained in it. This shield is immensely heavy, allowing it to be used as a bludgeoning weapon or used to easily block gunfire and fire, as well as hold off eye lasers… kinda. Even when in peaces, though, this shield has shown the ability to be used as a pretty well-off weapon, especially with a combatant like Soldier Boy.

Rocket Launcher

.

Although not used in direct combat, Soldier Boy has shown access to a rocket launcher which he was going to use years before for a celebration during the Fourth of July. While it is normally a heavy weapon, weighing up to 30 pounds, Soldier Boy was able to lift it without any problem, making it potentially usable both as a long range weapon but potentially deadly in short range, too.

M1911

Being a pistol he just kinda used a few times, Soldier Boy has shown the ability to quick-draw and shoot people which he used against a nun and priest who were supposedly under mind control alongside his attack against Mindstorm.

Combat Knife

Soldier Boy has shown proficiency with a knife suited for combat, both in combat and… other… ways? He was able to accurately land a blow on Mindstorm from a fair distance when throwing his knife, cutting right through his face, and retains his military skill which implies he holds great expertise using the weapon in close-quarters.

Peacemaker

Hero Costume

Worn by Peacemaker every day, this outfit demonstrates his pure patriotic power- symbolizing the courage of America… not really. It’s got the eagle and everything, at least. Although it offers more protection than otherwise, allowing flexible movement unlike other superhero costumes, and easy access to his weapons, the outfit doesn’t particularly protect Peacemaker’s body which can leave him vulnerable to blows.

Helmets

Peacemaker retains a large arsenal of helmets made by his father which give him several different attributes, allowing him to take on others in combat constantly with the added benefits each helmet gives. As a result of their material, every single helmet is bulletproof, allowing them to withstand gunfire without losing their capabilities of usage. Additionally, Peacemaker’s methods of using these helmets usually come in the form of verbal action or physically tapping them- which can be activated by others, unfortunately. However, with his helmets, they usually give many potent powers that likely wouldn’t hold this as a weakness. This includes helmets like…

Laser Beam

Peacemaker’s most commonly used helmet which shoots out a laser beam that can vaporize objects, destroying the Mind’s various war weapons and vaporizing them when it was first used. This weapon is potent against enemies who aren’t as strong- however, it struggles against larger opponents.

Shrinkage

With this helmet, Peacemaker can shrink down opponents which has allowed him to win every fight it’s been used in. This weapon shrinks in one’s body parts, likely incapacitating them although it hasn’t shown on-screen usage (for good reason).

Fuck Beam

This helmet allows Peacemaker to shoot out a big FUCKED! Beam that hurts opponents, throwing them around, however it doesn’t do particularly well damage to anything around him- granted, it can likely knock around opponents very easily.

The Vision of Peace

Although the helmet goes unnamed in the Inferior Five run, which we’ll dub as the Vision of Peace, this helmet doesn’t slack in power. It can predict attacks before they’re shot (but Peacemaker reacting is questionable), it can autopilot vehicles when Peacemaker’s occupied, and it’s ability was able to oneshot the KGBeast- leaving his face completely smoked afterwards.

X-Ray Vision

This helmet allows Peacemaker to see through one’s body, walls, and skeletons which he can turn off if need be. This allows him to see through stealth-based tactics, essentially, whether that’s hiding through walls or… hiding in a human’s body.

Sonic Boom

With this helmet, Peacemaker can unleash a massive sonic boom around him that destroys the surrounding area- completely destroying anyone around him, making it a very deadly move amidst combat. However, due to its unpredictable area damage, it’s a very unreliable weapon to use extensively in missions.

Anti-Gravity

By using this helmet, Peacemaker can fly around and fly back down to make sneak attacks on opponents. However, this is the one helmet with the big weakness where others can activate it on accident- leaving Peacemaker open to flying in the air unless he deactivates.

Human Torpedo

This helmet covers Peacemaker in an indestructible forcefield before charging him forward- allowing him to (usually) hit opponents with a really heavy blow. Although he hasn’t used much experience with it due to it being prone to accidents, the helmet has displayed immense power when used on opponents, including tougher ones.

Forcefield

This helmet covers Peacemaker in a forcefield which can withstand a few blows before closing out on its own, living a short time. This can be used to react to attacks that Peacemaker can’t dodge, or withstand more damage than he normally can survive. Peacemaker is very cautious when using this helmet- activating it even against the smallest of potential damages.

Shield

Used by Peacemaker, this shield is able to block gunfire and allows Peacemaker to defend his body when he goes into combat. It is sharp enough to cut through people which he can use to his advantage in close quarters combat alongside supportive gunfire.

Automatic Handgun

It’s a gun for his hand… yeah

These all-purpose automatic handguns are powerful in many ways, having the ability to rapid-fire bullets, blast through terrorists, and general… peace making things. Peacemaker doesn’t always make use of these handguns because he finds them a bit too easy to take lives with, but they’re just generally really powerful tools amidst combat.

Desert Eagle

With this silenced Desert Eagle, Peacemaker has a weapon he can rely on at a longer range besides his automatic handgun. With this, he can take down enemies without making a sound as well as landing a lethal blow practically anywhere on the body. If Peacemaker has the right magazine, he can equip the Desert Eagle with explosive compression bullets that can blow up a target’s body entirely from the inside despite initially being non-lethal.

Dartgun

With this tranq gun, Peacemaker used it to nullify Chester Runk by knocking him out who threatened to absorb Chris into his pocket dimension before dragging him away. This allowed him to put Chester to sleep enough in order to use him for Lex Luthor’s teleportation plan in order to kill Beast Boy Starro. Peacemaker has alternatively used literal blowdarts to take down enemies, incapacitating opponents nigh-instantly with them.

Bastons

Peacemaker is capable of wielding steel bastons in combat, which he can use for a melee approach if left without a gun. He’s been able to use these expertly in combat, taking them on various missions usually based more around stealth. However, unlike his other melee weapons (which are usually sharp) Peacemaker’s bastons are strictly blunt force, meaning he’ll need to put a ton of force behind a swing to hurt someone real badly. Hell, if Peacemaker wants, he can electrify them to put even more lethal force behind them, and in certain situations he can use a biological bio-agent imbued in his bastons against opponents who don’t want to die- a bio-agent that was capable of weakening people like Swamp Thing.

Spear

Peacemaker uses the spear to kill an Amazonian by pinning them to a tree like he’s Michael Myers or something.

Explosives

Used to exterminate opponents at a long range, Peacemaker can throw around a canister that blows up shortly after, nuking his opponent into nothing but skeletal remains.

Jetpack

Strapping this on, Peacemaker can fly pretty fast, charging through opponents like their butter. While certainly not his go-to option for travel- or combat- this gives Peacemaker very potent capabilities in both agility and power with sheer kinetic energy.

Detonation Button

When locking up the Doom Patrol, explosives were planted in the neck of supposed metahumans which he could detonate, most particularly Worm. This allowed him to create a detonation that was implied to have threatened Robotman, having to throw Worm into the distance before his explosion went off.

Peacehammers

Although they do literally nothing, these giant robots were used by Peacemaker alongside the military when he went all-out against the Doom Patrol. Being giant robots, they’re… big. And strong. And they didn’t do anything besides appear for a few panels to get one-shot, although it was implied that Degenerate had to be forced into an all-out aggressive rage via Beast Girl’s powers in order to take all three on and destroy them.

Peacejet

Peacemaker is able to ride a jet with immense skill, known as the Peacejet. He is able to even further place this jet into autopilot, allowing him to fly without being in the seat. Older comics have portrayed that Peacemaker’s helmet allows him to call upon the jet and connect it to his cybernetics- however Peacemaker likely doesn’t retain this anymore. This jet is able to fly large swarms of enemies, but can also be used to ram into opponents that he particularly hates with the front’s sharp end.

Car

Peacemaker (somehow) got a drivers license so now he can drive around. While his car is rather basic, it has a special detail representing his hero logo which makes it pretty easy to differentiate.

Minivan

Hey kid, want some candy? Peacemaker has shown the ability to drive a van which he drove in the Inferior Five series… and that’s about it. It has some complicated technology inside, but that’s about it.

Abilities

Soldier Boy

Nuclear Explosion

Soldier Boy’s most unique ability due to his time with the Soviets comes with his ability to create nuclear explosions. Due to radiation being kept in his body from Soviet experiments, Soldier Boy can control the radiation inside of his body which can explode when he becomes emotionally overwhelmed or willing to kill. With this, Soldier Boy can even lose full control over it when striked with PTSD- a scenario where he’ll unwillingly detonate himself into a massive explosion. Not only does this naturally burn and can nearly kill people, it can burn Compound V out of the systems of Supes and affects your insides- whether it’s gonna give you killer burns or just give you radiation sickness.

Resistances

Due to Soldier Boy’s enhanced physiology with Compound V, Soldier Boy retains superhuman resistances which he is able to adapt even further with enough exposure to another source. These resistances include:

  • Toxins: Able to resist toxic Halothane gas and smoke with it (seen above).Generally, Soldier Boy is able to resist poison both ingesting it and taken externally.

  • Radiation: Able to resist radiation, having been exposed to it constantly as well as his own ability innately causing him to be surrounded by it because of the radiation stored inside of his body. He’s been able to withstand the energy of the radiation in his body going out of control and blowing him up.

  • Heat: Able to withstand being burnt as well as the explosions he creates which can burn and have caused fire to his surroundings, being strong enough to vaporize people.

  • Energy: Able to withstand energy beams without taking damage, such as from Ryan. Similarly, Soldier Boy was unharmed by being hit by Billy’s lasers directly into his eyes, punching him and retaining no damage at all. Homelander, who Soldier Boy is comparable to, was relatively unharmed by Billy Butcher’s own laser eyes when he was hit, only burning through his suit. This resistance isn’t based on strength of the lasers, knowing that Butcher and Homelander are all relatively comparable in one way or another in strength, including their lasers, and even when being knocked back by their force he remains completely resistant to the damage.

  • Acid: Able to resist acids, being incapable of burning his skin or his internals, which allowed him to drink cocktails with acid in them.

  • Mind Manipulation: Could slightly resist mind control from Mindstorm, requiring Soldier Boy to be restrained and later knocked out in order for it to be effective at all which he could still shrug off.

Peacemaker

Patriotism

One of Peacemaker’s greatest attributes is his sheer patriotism- his conviction for this country. Not only has this led to Peacemaker taking offers to fight for his country over defending his entire multiverse, pulling through intense injuries and wounds just to express his love for this country, but it has even lead to Peacemaker being recognized for his patriotism to run the US military in the Doom Patrol run. Truly, a wonderful American patriot… with nothing going bad behind the scenes. Absolutely not.

Weakness

Soldier Boy

One of Soldier Boy’s greatest weakness comes at his mental state- not only is Soldier Boy a very combative fighter with history of going head-on into conflict, but due to Soldier Boy’s past it has led to him being filled with post-traumatic stress that, when confronted with, it’ll leave him to go into a berserker rage or refuse to fall away. Primarily, Soldier Boy’s greatest fears come from Soviet Russia- when he was originally experimented on by scientists- and his final moments with Payback where he was betrayed by his entire team. These two examples are what primarily lead to Soldier Boy’s broken mental state. Another point to attack is that Soldier Boy isn’t the greatest fan to his character despite how much others love him, which can lead him to being self-deprecating at certain times.

Peacemaker

At the surface, Peacemaker is a very hot-headed fighter who’ll barge into any conflict willy-nilly which would naturally serve as a weakness… but he’s got a bit more besides that. Peacemaker in his early years held many issues with his attributes because he felt he was a toxic person no one liked, thus he saw himself as a lonely and incompetent person with no worthy attributes. This later changed as Peacemaker joined up with his friends in the Suicide Squad and into conflict, but with the conflict brought across the world and past experimentations it drove Peacemaker into insanity, constantly bringing flashbacks when he was reminded of the past when aliens attempted to convert his body into their own weapon. Plus, Peacemaker’s massive ego is just a gigantic exploitable weakness- such as him going out of his way to bring terrorism to the Doom Patrol because he saw himself as bringing peace by ending them. Even if Peacemaker holds the greatest of intentions, he’ll stop at nothing to bring peace. Like, stopping at literally nothing.

  • Should be comparable to other DC street tiers, such as Nightwing or Red Arrow.

Before the Verdict

Homelander’s Funny Statement

In The Boys, it’s referenced that every weapon on Earth has been thrown at Homelander without working on him- which normally people argue to include the energy of higher-end nuclear weapons hence the conflict with this feat. However, while we did not explicitly agree with it referenced the Russian Tsar Bomba, we believe that it is very much usable with the values of other nuclear bombs consistently made in the United States, such as the B-41 nuclear bomb or the Mark 16 nuclear bomb, which get to 5-25 megatons of TNT in value. With this in mind, the feat itself held a lot more merit with how high it’d get- a value that we saw even more consistency in when looking at other values such as Nubia’s storm which would get up to at least in a megaton range. We found this to be consistent with the statement made by Billy that an H-Bomb would’ve been the weapon of choice to kill Homelander if there was one, which could line up between both values, with Billy himself having tons of extensive background knowledge on Supes and general military information. Should you take the five megaton value, this lines up with the value of the Ivy Mike which would make this consistent and generally supports the yield of tests in the United State’s arsenal, however if you take the 25 megaton value it would be consistent with the idea of the Tsar Bomba- which would reach up to 50 megatons. If you take 5 or 25, the H-Bomb statement can simply corroborate it with likely values that would fit into the idea being twice as powerful as what Homelander could scale to in durability. Thus, with this, we believe it’s consistent enough both with statements and feats known to be applicable to Homelander’s strength. Knowing that Homelander is essentially perceived as a God-tier threat by Vought and those with military knowledge such as Billy reference him as being on this kind of level, we found it to be absolutely fair game to use this statement with its consistency than ignore it completely in the blog.

Verdicts

Peacemaker

Stats

Generally, stats were an easy discussion that came down to a few important questions. Beginning at their lower ends of stats, Peacemaker reached over a hundred tons of TNT- much greater than the > 1 ton of TNT low ends that Soldier Boy gained from scaling to Homelander, with Homelander’s chemical explosion feat getting around a general rating between 70 to over 700 tons of TNT that actually got higher than Hawkman’s crater feat. However, Peacemaker consistently held kilotons feats ranging from the low ends of over a single kiloton all the way up to seventy kilotons. Thus, it was evident that Peacemaker would’ve held a statistic edge generally speaking, being hundreds to thousands of times stronger when you compared their direct ends. However, with the contentious nuke argument that would’ve thrown Soldier Boy into a megaton minimum if not fairly high into kilotons, this definitely allowed Soldier Boy to hold his own stat edge that gets much higher than what Peacemaker could scale to. Granted the consistency for other feats, such as Nuvia’s storm feat, we weren’t too contentious with the usage. However, this was giving Soldier Boy the absolute benefit of the doubt without attacking these arguments for being massively higher than anything else in the series, and while technically they weren’t outliers, making them the definitive high ends for Soldier Boy was far from a solid premise as they inherently lack a lot of evidence besides statements.

Of course, we don’t think it impacts the debate at all, but we do agree that you could potentially argue for Soldier Boy overtaking lower ends for Peacemaker, however with the existence of Peacemaker being able to scale up to 600 kilotons and all the way up to generally comparable megaton feats, the gap likely wouldn’t be big enough to truly overwhelm Peacemaker in a fight with his sheer speed and (as we’ll explain later) ability to get out of effective ranges for Soldier Boy’s explosions that could possibly one-shot him if we agreed with nuclear scaling. Plus, even if you wanted to toss out Peacemaker's scaling to these megaton feats, the gap between what Peacemaker scales to versus Soldier Boy scales to is much different, especially with added context. With the factor that the megaton feat for Soldier Boy comes through indirect scaling and vague upscaling, while Peacemaker scaling to 600 kilotons comes more directly and has evidence for scaling physically with the feat in question despite both being storm feats.

This wasn’t all, though. Even outside of physical strength, Peacemaker blatantly took stats in other places, such as speed. At most, Soldier Boy had scaled to lightning timing and Homelander outspeeding an explosion, which while impressive normally, simply didn’t match what Peacemaker had in speed. Not only was Peacemaker able to outspeed the grasp of a black hole, but with direct scaling to Black Canary’s nanosecond feat and potentially various other laser feats as well as scaling to Katana who could deflect a laser with her sword, he was blatantly faster than light, clocking in over two million times faster than Soldier Boy. This speed gap alone makes Peacemaker an insanely difficult combatant to catch, which (assuming you agreed with it) would almost completely make the strength redundant, especially when we looked into the gap between their…

Arsenal and Abilities

At a first glance, Peacemaker blatantly holds the advantage of sheer numbers and usage of weapons. Not only did Peacemaker’s helmets all offer advantages that couldn’t immediately be countered, but with weapons such as his Dartgun, Desert Eagle, or his general explosives, Peacemaker had a lot of options for combat. This versatility just simply outclasses Soldier Boy’s abilities, allowing him to generally adapt to most situations with various lasers, guns, or melee weapons. Even if Soldier Boy could match Peacemaker’s arsenal, with Peacemaker’s sheer mobility and usage of weapons allows him to easily overtake him in a fight. Plus, even while Soldier Boy likely held a resistance to lasers and could block them with his shield, Peacemaker has multiple ways of shooting his lasers that Soldier Boy wouldn’t expect and there are a ton of helmets he could use even besides his lasers.

More so, Peacemaker actually just generally holds a lot of ways to take down Soldier Boy. For example, even if Soldier Boy could get off his explosion, Peacemaker could fly away with the Peacejet which he can call down through his helmet, he could fly away with his jetpack which he holds on hand, or he could use the Anti-Gravity helmet to fly into the air out of the range of the explosion. Plus, his forcefield has been shown to be able to block off forcefields, so it’s very likely he could protect himself from Soldier Boy’s explosion, and with helmets like the Human Torpedo he could simultaneously launch himself into Soldier Boy when he’s charging up an explosion and defend him from the subsequent explosion. Even with the explosion itself, the need to charge up the explosion would likely push Peacemaker to shoot Soldier Boy with his dartgun in order to incapacitate him, as he’s done so before in his encounter with Chester Runk. Ultimately, Soldier Boy’s explosion would leave him open to many things that Soldier Boy likely wouldn’t be able to counter- and with Soldier Boy at a statistical disadvantage that becomes even more certain to be the case.

Ultimately, Peacemaker just stomps in this department. He retains a larger arsenal, more weapons to draw from, he’s far more equipped for combat, and he’ll be seeing Soldier Boy’s single impressive ability coming at him from a mile away, so a quickdraw incapacitation would be the go-to counter. Even if you can argue a resistance towards certain abilities, Peacemaker actually retains a ton of creative ways to use his weapons beyond just shooting them, and he could always pull out easy wincons like being able to shrink down Soldier Boy with his Shrinkage helmet or easily predict all of Soldier Boy’s attacks even if he can’t see them through the Vision of Peace helmet.

Tertiary Factors

Being the most unimportant aspect, Peacemaker likely takes a lot of the aspects in regards to things such as skill and experience. While Soldier Boy is likely the more skilled out of these two with Soldier Boy’s actual formal skill in the military, Peacemaker’s vast number of experience through the Suicide Squad, fighting alongside the Justice League, combatting alien invasions, and many other general events. Even though Soldier Boy is a more skilled fighter he inherently hasn’t taken the same extent of experience in combat that Peacemaker has- and with this, Peacemaker inherently holds a lot more details about how to counteract his opponents, while Soldier Boy’s general skill through his training was never capitalized knowing how Soldier Boy was likely hidden away by Vought than ever seeing literal combat. For this reason, it’s likely Peacemaker’s experience allows him to actually function better in a fight because, even though he hasn’t taken formal training, he’s been in far more combat than Soldier Boy has without relying on his power. For this reason, we believe that Peacemaker’s experience handling global threats and very similar Spec Ops work with the Suicide Squad, even without his formal training, would allow him to at least match if not exceed Soldier Boy in skill.

Conclusion

   Advantages:

  • Takes the stat trinity as a whole.

  • Larger arsenal and variety of weapons.

  • Greater range with weapons.

  • Far more agile and could avoid Soldier Boy’s explosion.

  • Weapons such as the Shrinkage Helmet or his darts can incapacitate Soldier Boy.

  • Far more experienced in combat.

  • Big ass robots.

  • Not homophobic.

   Disadvantages:

  • Could be killed if he gets hit by Soldier Boy’s nuclear explosion as it does cellular damage.

  • Lacks formal training in combat.

  • Why does he look like that

  • Has a white van with kids inside of it. Not good for his public image…

Soldier Boy

Stats

As Team Peacemaker mentions, both of these characters hold various stat ends. While Peacemaker is able to outstat Soldier Boy at his lowest ends, being around seventy tons of TNT vs. over a hundred, we do agree with using the Homelander nuke statement. While we don’t necessarily agree with using Nuvia’s storm as a physical feat, knowing that Homelander is treated as having the ‘powers of a God’ and generally seen as the most powerful Supe in The Boys, we believe that the feat itself makes ‘Megaton level’ a bit more consistent with it in mind. Thus, we believe that Homelander’s statement reaching around 5 megatons at least is fair game and Soldier Boy would absolutely scale from Homelander even if he isn’t one-hundred percent physically comparable.

However, there wasn’t much to contend with Peacemaker through Soldier Boy’s speed. We held no inherent problem with using Peacemaker’s faster than light feats or scaling, and Soldier Boy simply wasn’t able to match it in speed. Even if you could hypothetically treat things in the Boys, such as Homelander and Billy’s eye lasers, as being the speed of light, the general value you could apply to it would still be far slower than what Peacemaker scales to, and that’s again taking the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, this meant Soldier Boy was being physically outstat in speed, however we believe that he absolutely took strength being over 71x higher. Even if you used megaton ends for Peacemaker, he would remain statistically superior over Peacemaker, up to 12.5x stronger unless you used the highest end for Peacemaker’s stats. Of course, if you wanted to use higher ends for Quakemaster’s feat, Soldier Boy likely wouldn’t stack well, however we personally did not agree with using these higher ends and settled for one mile due to the inconsistency with the calculated distance.

Arsenal and Abilities

This was the most important aspect between both characters. While Peacemaker retained a general advantage of having a lot more to pull out against Soldier Boy, his general arsenal was just kind of a… nothing burger. While he held a variety of helmets, the most general usage of them comes in the form of lasers which Soldier Boy not only resists but has also shown even in-universe that those who are simply strong enough are able to physically deflect the lasers. Even with helmets like Sonic Boom or the forcefield, these are generally stat-based helmets which likely wouldn’t do much to Soldier Boy anyways or hinder him. Even in the case of Peacemaker’s weapons, such as his Dartgun or Desert Eagle, Soldier Boy’s sheer piercing durability to where even his internals and eyes were unable to be cut by razor sharp scalpels or shot, it was very unlikely Peacemaker could’ve done something like knock Soldier Boy unconscious, especially with Soldier Boy’s resistance to toxins and being able to adapt his resistances through sheer will if he’s intended on being knocked out by Peacemaker. This leads Peacemaker to retain only one singular way of taking down Soldier Boy with his abilities which is the Shrinkage helmet, however this specific helmet straight up hasn’t shown direct usage and we don’t have much details as to how it works. Even more so, based on how it’s described, there’s blatantly nothing that it does that would change the fight, with Soldier Boy more than likely retaining all of his abilities and strength even if he was shrunk. Plus, with Soldier Boy’s shield being able to block a number of weapons that Peacemaker uses, primarily his lasers, and his combat knife likely being a better hand-to-hand weapon than Peacemaker’s baston, this gave Soldier Boy a large advantage against Peacemaker’s usual combat tactics.

On the other hand, Peacemaker just doesn’t retain well-suited counters against Soldier Boy’s radiation blast. His forcefields, while they defend against physical attacks, likely aren’t suited to block the effects of radiation. Even more so, Soldier Boy’s explosions work down to the cellular level, which Peacemaker wouldn’t be able to resist, and the massive range and airburst it causes means that it’s very unlikely Peacemaker can cover a long enough distance to leave the area. While he does have access to his Peacejet or his jetpack or anti-gravity helmet, Peacemaker hasn’t resorted to these in the past to escape because his go-to method would more than likely be his forcefield, and even if he intended on using those in specific, it likely wouldn’t be able to completely escape Soldier Boy’s explosion. Plus, Peacemaker would need to know what Soldier Boy’s ability does- and while he might be fast enough to react to the explosion inherently, to assume he would know the lethality could overpower his forcefield or resort to tactics he’s never really done is just baseless.

Overall, while Peacemaker at a first glance holds an advantage, Soldier Boy’s vast number of resistances and durability would allow him to easily take this down a notch, and with Peacemaker’s only tactics of doing major things with his arsenal comes from weapons he doesn’t resort to or has shown zero on-screen usage of, it’s very unlikely Peacemaker would ever be able to overwhelm Soldier Boy despite the larger arsenal. On the other hand, Peacemaker has no particularly useful counters to what Soldier Boy wields in his arsenal, and Soldier Boy more than likely retains the advantage of having basic weapons that Peacemaker likely won’t be able to counteract simply with the sheer stat difference of strength.

Tertiary Factors

This is probably the simplest factor. Peacemaker is a skilled fighter who’s participated in global conflict, fighting against alien threats, working with the Justice League, taking on Garro’s possessed humans, etcetera. However, Peacemaker at his root is self-taught as a fighter and doesn’t retain much extensive training, while Soldier Boy albeit more vague explicitly had to have learned general combat training through the military and took on an unknown number of missions in World War 2 and training through Vought themselves, alongside other Black Ops missions across his time in Vought. With this, while Peacemaker likely holds a bit more experience especially on a grander scale, it probably wouldn’t stack as well knowing that Soldier Boy retains formally taught skills from his military time while Peacemaker, albeit since he was young, has been either self-taught or pushed by his father to learn by being hurt. Plus, in regards to how they actually fight, Peacemaker’s big intentions are to rush in and he’ll purposefully handicap himself just to make fights challenging, while Soldier Boy simply doesn’t do this. He goes straight to the point in combat rather than having fun about it, especially with Peacemaker comparably being a lot less cautious and more so enjoys having fun in combat which leads him to being a more physical fighter- something he’d be putting himself at a disadvantage with physical combat knowing Soldier Boy out-stats and is more willing to immediately kill than beat up like Peacemaker. As mentioned on the other side, too, even if Soldier Boy was over reliant on his strength, the gap here still remains as one to where Soldier Boy retains the same advantages he always does, which is his sheer strength and general ability usage.

Conclusion

Advantages:

  • Much stronger with high ends (in our opinion).

  • Resists a vast majority of Peacemaker’s weaponry or counteracts it through sheer strength.

  • Sheer area-of-effect with explosions can overwhelm Peacemaker and likely bypass forcefields due to radiation properties.

  • Consistent intention to kill and end the fight as soon as possible.

  • Far more skilled in combat.

  • Far more useful abilities in combat.

  • Rapture solos.

   Disadvantages:

  • Much smaller arsenal of weapons.

  • Resistances could be overwhelmed if you don’t use high ends.

  • Much slower.

  • Far less overall combat experience.

  • Soulja Boy

  • THOSE words…
