Death Battle Predictions: Madder Red vs Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

"The fact that there seems to be no problem in America that can’t be solved by murdering your whole family or your boss or a whole crowd of strangers, and maybe yourself." ― Lucy Ellmann

Madder Red, the vile crimson terrorist from the town of Bedlam.

Johnny C., the Homicidal Maniac from... Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.

Insanity is an evil that corrupts and devours the purity of good will. Even if you started as the most innocent person, you would eventually decay into an antagonist evil should you be pressed into the wrong situation. Ultimately, in a contest against nature versus nurture, we must question ourselves whether or not it's worth it to just end it all at some point... But, when that question comes to mind, many may think that they might as well do the world a favor and take out themselves as well as those they hate. Ultimately, when this act of terrorism is enacted by an evil almost immortal, it becomes a cycle of constant destruction to both one's self and the world around them unless they could redeem themselves.

These two maniacs are the most mad of them all, but even past that evil they weren't even the worst people in the world. In truth, their psychotics had shown a light of true evil in the world and society, which they set out to exploit when they began to work for the greater good. In the end, only one individual can make it out with the charge to a third degree... Or just straight up manslaughter. To figure out who that is, let's find out in a DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Start

Obviously, this is a blog created for my (hades) birthday on the 31st of December. So... there's that.

Additionally, due to the nature of these combatants, discretion is advised due to the vast amounts of gore. And by that, I mean there is a vast amount of gore, including visuals and detailed writings of mutilations. However, most sections and images shown will attempt to display the least amount of gore as possible for viewing experience.

Background

In the city of Bedlam, the lives of many are plagued often by death and mutilation. Whether that comes from the Christians who wish to cleanse the Earth by killing people intended on dying stopped by human engineering, or a mass hypnotic controlling pixel leader who wishes to bring back the old ways of terrorism as to fix his greatest hero. Nonetheless, it's obvious Bedlam is a horrible place, and granted there's only one guy, he eventually had developed one guy he simply could never take down. No matter how many times he brought the man to the law or attempted to prevent him from taking another life, the terrorist bounced right back to the plate. With a batter-batter-swing, the man known as Madder Red came back each time to show the First that his efforts had usually been in vain. However, when Madder Red had been caught years ago, the First brought the man into custody, and this would seemingly be his last visit.

Due to Bedlam's already freakish nature, Madder Red was taken in by a doctor who would spread the idea that he could 'fix' the man; This was nearly the truth, as the psycho would rip open Madder Red's brain and scramble it around, attempting to figure out what had been wrong and patch it up, despite Red's protest. As a result, Red became immensely psychotic in his first years after the damage done to him, however eventually grew to ignore the bloodshed and ultimately savor life- of course, he savored every life but himself, leading the redeemed terrorist now known as Fillmore Press to become a very cheerful but inherently demented man. However, due to him seeing his life as worthless, Fillmore eventually falsely confessed to the murder of a man in order to find himself in the police department, a place he had odd history with despite a lack of records.

Following this, he soon developed a relationship with the leading chief Ramira, who hired Fillmore as a detective under her management in order to discover murder cases-- a knack of which Fillmore was perfect at due to his history and newfound abilities allowing him to seek out details and perfectly solve any case. As he solved each and every case, though, a former terrorist of unknown identity began to mass-control the population into taking lives, which forced Fillmore to discover this man's location. As a result of his control, the man nearly takes the lives of Ramira after her entire SWAT team, leading him to confront him. Known only as a man behind a pixel face, he identifies Fillmore as his former identity and wishes for him to change his ways back to taking others lives with him-- a testament that Fillmore refuses until the man pushes him over his edge, wanting him to do everything but keep talking. Aiming a gun at him, he attempts to take the shot, but the heavily injured Ramira takes the kill, saving Fillmore's sanity who would attempt to save Ramira's own. Ultimately, Fillmore knew that he had the desperation of murder scratching at the back of his mind, but in his eyes, he would refuse to take a life until it threatened one more valuable- with that list now including his own.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

Over the stars...

While people may think that the lives are killers are judged by their mind, ones idea may come from their upbringing or how they feel about others. Meanwhile, Johnny... The world is just fucked up, alright?! It's fucked up! JUST FUCKED UP! IT'S ALL FUCKED UP! IT'S SO FUCKING FUCKED UP! ... Oh yeah, and his parents were murdered. Wompwomp.

Living on his own, Johnny loves to take the lives of others while living a normal life. Even though this split-life has interrupted his relationships, like when he attempted to kill Devi, a cashier who he had romantically gotten close to him due to his fears of losing happiness. He has various reasons for his ideas on the world beyond that, however, Johnny knows that his life actually matters the least- as he ultimately wishes to kill himself. Wanting to travel over the stars and whatever, he takes lives as to see if he can die quicker- to NO FUCKING ACCORD! THESE COPS ABSOLUTELY FUCKING SUCK AT THEIR JOB! THEY'RE USELESS TO THE PEOPLE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE SAVING!!!

However, Johnny would attempt to take his life after seeing everything fails to appeal to him-- His mass murders begin to drop off and his favorite frozen drink is sold out late at night. Thus, Johnny believes the best motive would to be to kill himself, which after a bit more goofy fun he decides on enacting. Despite this, Johnny's unable to die- Never being charged for his crimes? After murdering everyone in that cafe? Wow! He believed himself to be immortal-- So, in order to hide away in his house, he hooks up a gun to his telephone and ventures around his home after two spirit doughboys wish to support him in both of his journeys, taking his life or being immortal. Despite partaking on both of these journeys, Nny would take a call out of curiosity (which was from his crush! ... oh.) leading into him being shot to death by his own gun. Falling to the ground, Johnny's last messages go out to his die-ary which he mentally jots down notes in before succumbing to his wound.

...

Johnny appears in the skies of Heaven-- somehow. He was sinful enough to get the angels sick, which allowed him free entry into Heaven. With this, Johnny discovers he has the ability to blow up peoples souls! ... as well as everyone else in Heaven, an ability highly frowned upon. Johnny, in a stark contrast, loves to blow up people's heads and causes a huge war across Heaven as he incidentally causes everyone to start blowing up. Nonetheless, while it makes him happy, he's kicked right back out into the pits of Hell.

His misadventure in Hell is just as worse, as it's revealed Johnny actually has a higher nature in the universe- He's an anchor to the evil byproducts of human and brings it to a specific space in the universe, being his red wall. The wall of which BLOWS UP THE UNIVERSE! -- and recreates it. Yeah, kinda goofy- I HATE THE WORD GOOFY! Once Johnny's fed up with these worlds, given how they're practically worse than even his own home, he's sent back to the Earth. This completely changed how Johnny saw the world, and he just wanted it all to be over with. Fleeing to a cliffside to cool himself down, he stares into space, knowing that killing anyone- whether himself or others- was never the answer. Rather, he should be stagnant, and maybe he'll be able to carry himself further in life.

Skill and Experience

Madder Red

Due to Red's immense experience and power as a terrorist in Bedlam, he's the most unique combatant through sheer mental prowess. Even as he had been mentally unstable, Red was the longest-running terrorist in Bedlam that inspired scientists to study and rip apart his brain to figure out his psychosis. While as Fillmore Press, he had retained all of his memories with more sane clarity rather than wishing for ultimate terror, being able to solve murders in seconds and detailing both the killers and their motives individually without any inaccuracies. Through seeing a killers intention, he can immediately understand their state of mind and intention no matter the variables, and has constantly applied this to situations where he has his life or others on the line without any issue in his way.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

Despite his obvious homicidal  nature, Johnny isn't a rambling idiot. Both cunning in the philosophical side and sheer murder skill, he's devastated his town for ages without ever being caught (albeit... that's probably because they can't). Not only had he been implied to be responsible for creating his torture devices, of which obviously require a high degree of skill to use let alone implement casually into his house, he can improvise weapons on the fly as well as displays immense skill in using an assortment of different objects as tools of murder. In fact, Johnny's sometimes a really nice guy. Doesn't make him any less of a genocidal maniac, though!

Equipment

Madder Red

Improvised Weapons

As the most devastating killer in Bedlam, Madder Red has constantly wielded weapons around him as a means to protect himself or kill others. In his last fight with the First, Madder Red slits a child's throat with a shard of glass, and in FIllmore's first fight, he attempts to slit his throat with the usage of a scalpel, among other cases. He can wield almost anything with utmost accuracy, especially if it's a blunt object.

Chainsaw

In order to purge 'sinners', as he jokingly exclaims, Madder Red wields a handheld chainsaw which he can use to cut people in half for shits and giggles.

Hidden Blade

As a means to clear your sins, Madder Red wields a hidden blade in his suit. With this, he can use it to slit peoples throats or, even worse, completely impale your head. It even comes with the power to purify your thoughts and make you feel better! .. at the cost of losing your life.
Mac-10

Spreading happiness amongst the protestors, Madder Red has often wielded guns. While he sees them as a means to an end to produce hate and thus doesn't support them unlike his other uses of weapons, he'll use them in a situation which calls for it.

Baseball Bat

When torturing the First at a baseball game, Madder Red just absolutely loved playing ball... with the First's head. Strong enough to bust through his bulletproof armor, the bat is something Madder Red uses with ferocity, albeit he admittedly has never gotten used to the kind of stance needed to exert all of his energy.

Miscellaneous Weapons

While Red has never displayed in-person usage of these items, he has shown to have access to items such as surgical saws, knives, scissors, chainsaws, axes, hand-cuffs, razors, as well as giving his past goons other firearms in his terrorist attacks. It is likely he would hold an extensive idea on how to wield them, given his experience and skill knowing crime scenes and how objects are wielded in an attack.

Red's Red Car

I have no idea how maniacs like these can drive cars, but they can. Used to mow down riots and groups of people, Madder Red absolutely loves driving it! It probably got towed, though, since... you know.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

The Way to the Great Egress

As this is Johnny's first and last effort to take his life, he has access to a generic gun which he's used to both take the lives of others, threaten them, and nearly take his own (which he later happens... on accident! Ironic.).

Torture Devices

Johnny's home is littered with these devices, from the Iron Maiden to electric chairs to ceiling hooks and boobie-trapped rooms. Within his home, one can expect themselves tied up to wires and delivered thousands of volts while being stretched and torn apart. And that's not even the worst Johnny would do!

Instruments (of death)

As a skilled... dissector, Johnny loves to tear apart people. From saws to hooks to cleavers to claws, he almost always has the right tools to dissect someone apart and deliver his ultimate sadistic pleasure. It doesn't really matter what you do, because as long as Nny's in the mood, he'll do it.

Smiling Knives

With Johnny's skill with weapons, he's obviously going to wield knives. His two specialty weapons are duel blades almost similar to that of a cutlass, which he uses in the most special kills he performs. While they're at an immensely short range, they'll deadly when he gets close enough while dual-wielding them.

Scythe

Johnny's best weapon to give a tease. He's able to bring it through your entire body with one quick swoop, and it's one of the farthest-ranged melees that Johnny wields. However, it's one he obviously can't carry in his pockets, making it very awkward to hull around as a result.

Knife Collection

Beyond the maniac's smiling knives, Johnny wields an ensemble of knives along himself, which he can use in creative ways to pin down, dissect, or impale his victims. It's one of his favorite activities, I've heard!

Dynamite

As an amazing killer, Johnny is more than just a homicidal maniac. He's even a homicidal chemist! Making homemade explosives is something Johnny has a surprising knack in, using sticks of dynamite and explosive backpacks to kill tons of people when he's too lazy to brutalize everyone there.

Hammer

Bonk! As another one of Johnny's favorites, the maniac has used hammers in the before, including any potential substitute he can find, like a wooden mallet. They're just really fun to swing, and especially feel going through someone's skull!

Lead Pipe

Johnny is smart enough to use his environment, too. Even if he isn't carrying a weapon specifically on him, he once ripped off piping from the wall to beat a pedophile to death with. It's funny, really, because usually Johnny never runs out of weapons, but I suppose it works.

Metal Claws

As discussed before, Johnny loves to dissect people. With these claws, Johnny exerts enough strength to tear apart your skull in one go, leaving your brain nice... and... rip-out-able!

Taser

When Johnny's too lazy to knock you out, the maniac has wielded a taser in the past. Strong enough to completely knock you out, as said before, Johnny has even believed it capable of killing people. However, Johnny usually forgets to change the batteries, leaving it down as a single use weapon let alone one he uses at all.

Shovel

Albeit not a weapon, Johnny has had access to a shovel in the past. Not a big thing in combat, but as a strong blunt force object, it's nothing short of an acceptable means of beat-down. High shovel!

Bow and Arrow

One time, Johnny had wielded a bow and arrow. Yeah. Pretty simple.

Johnny's Car

Who gave him a driver's license?! Despite being the Homicidal Maniac, Johnny has never actually hit someone with his car... as a far as we know. He loves to use it for travel, though.

Abilities

Madder Red

Pain Tolerance

A unique ability to Fillmore and Red's psyche is their utmost immunity to pain, fitting to almost such a degree that they take pleasure in the pain they receive. Likely resorted from Madder Red's already damaged mind, the cutting to various nerves in Fillmore's brain led to him enjoying pain with no fear of receiving, especially should it benefit his goals. However, while this may suit him from physical and mental trauma, Fillmore nonetheless wishes to keep himself away from taking another life let alone seeing the lives of his partners being taken away, while Red wishes for the complete opposite in killing everyone for a laugh.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

Immortality

Due to Johnny's sheer sustenance and will to pull on, as well as his commitment to murder and evil, neither Heaven nor Hell are able to accept him. After talking a bit with the lord Satan, he'll be able to patch himself back up, albeit the extent of this healing is completely unknown even by Johnny himself.

Strength

Speed

Durability

Weaknesses

Madder Red

If it wasn't obvious, Red has a lot of issues with his psychosis, including the fact he finds pleasure in harm and seeks out trying to cause as much harm as possible which leads him into prolonging taking lives... sometimes. Alternatively, Fillmore is the complete opposite. Due to his post-traumatic stress disorder, he simply cannot force himself to kill unless his personality is completely pushed over, and as a result will almost always attempt to take his own life before another. Neither care at all for their being, anyways, so they'll be completely open to putting themself in harms way as long as it furthers their goal, whether that's for the greater good or the terrifying evil.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

Johnny is just... obviously unstable. Nitpicking the actions and looks of everyone, he acts as the judge of everyone. But of course, that's in good intention, as the world isn't all toxic to him. However, this mindset has more often than not let his feelings get the better of himself, from attempting suicide over not being able to get a slushy or attempting to murder a girl he held feelings for. Ultimately, this weakness can push Johnny from being an actual stable person into a crumpled mess of feelings should the wrong buttons be pressed against him.

Verdict

Due to how this fight ultimately pans out, it was unlikely for these two to not match in every aspect, if not cause an inconclusive victor in one stat or another. However, as push comes to shove, both characters have specific advantages that overturned each specific strength and weakness. These weaknesses and strengths were premises heavily important to both, and became the deciding factors, which came down to mentality as well as actual willingness to kill or injure.

in the physical department, both were very similar. While both constantly could deal with forces that matched them, Madder Red was simply far more experienced in taking and dishing out damage, as well as having the greater physical feat. Johnny's board-busting feat is fairly impressive in general, however Fillmore taking down that door was in a similar ballpark if not higher. Johnny definitely held the advantage with explosions as the bathroom and building explosives could easily deal with anything Madder Red brought to the fight, however these were risks that could kill Johnny too, and that was assuming that Fillmore wouldn't be able to see the motive behind placing down these explosions, something that Red has explicitly dealt with in the past and understood the motives behind when he heard about it. Similarly, Fillmore had been easily faster. Keeping up with the First as Madder Red is no big feat, given that the First had countless superhuman feats such as in his fight against Eric where he dodged automatic gunfire and kept up with the man in the first place. Meanwhile, Johnny has explicitly been incapable of reacting to gunfire from his own gun, and while blitzing human reaction is very impressive, Madder Red has done the same. Not to mention that this speed definitely impacted more than just their direct combat, leading into the next portion.

Johnny and Red were very easily tied in weaponry, however both had explicit advantages with certain weapons. As mentioned before, Johnny's explosives have the potential to completely dominate and win the fight, however it's a specific weapon that Johnny could potentially get trapped in and be killed by. Similarly, Madder Red's guns were simply much better than Johnny's bow-and-arrow as well as his other ranged options like the Way to the Great Egress, a weapon Johnny likely wouldn't even use as he's frowned upon it in the past. While Fillmore obviously made a mental roadblock, if he saw Nny as enough of a threat, he'd likely pull the trigger, too. However, Johnny had a vastly larger arsenal visually shown in combat, which gave him the potential to overwhelm Madder Red. Having ten to hundreds of knives that Johnny could pull from anywhere would be extremely useful in a fight like this, and longer range melee choices like the scythe could be much safer against Red who's melee options were bats and chainsaws. Additionally, Johnny's usage of torture devices in a homefield advantage scenario could leave Red open, as while he's dealt with similar torture, he hasn't really escaped anything like it. Although, while Johnny also had useful weapons like the taser, Red's resistance and Fillmore's enjoyment off of pain likely prevented it from inhibiting them too much, with Red being able to likely work off of muscle spasms given he can keep himself conscious during similar instances of immense pain with his brain being severed or having a psychosis episode while walking with a gunshot.

As a result, the debate would simply come down to how Madder Red and Fillmore would function together, and how Johnny would be able to match Madder Red's experience-- a feat that's simply impossible in both regards. Not only have Red and Fillmore explicitly opposed each other, episodes of psychosis have been very prevalent in Fillmore's psyche if Red hasn't already made him berserk enough to take a life. As a result, beyond the ruleset of Death Battle, Fillmore would likely take longer to take the kill, and Red himself would generally prefer torture over full murder. Luckily, this mindset applies to Johnny in the same regard, as he also enjoys torture as long as he isn't annoyed by the participants constant banter- which by the time Fillmore starts waffling about the situation, he'll be mad enough to shoot Johnny in the skull. Similarly, Johnny simply has no means to match Red's sheer skill and expertise. Being able to view Johnny in an instant, viewing his posture, how he talks, and carries himself would give him more than enough info to deduce that Johnny's a homicidal maniac, which means that Fillmore likely wouldn't struggle to defend himself when caught off-guard. Similarly, Johnny's tactics are usually done by pulling shit out of his ass- literally! Which Fillmore's entire case in Bedlam centralized around figuring out a case with this, and he'd easily be able to deduce off of Johnny's pose what he'd be intending on doing. Even with details such as whether or not Johnny would be truly dead upon being shot, Fillmore has a lot of means to understand what the maniac's tactics are and combat against them. Speaking of hard to put down--

Johnny's immortality is a touchy subject but due to its subjective nature, it's more than likely a 50/50 as to what you believe in. While Johnny's immortality stemmed from him coming back after going through Hell and Heaven, not being allowed in either and coming back to his body as a result after getting a band-aid for his injuries, the further context behind this story event makes it unlikely that Johnny would truly be able to pull it off twice, let alone if Fillmore or Johnny put himself in a situation that led to his body being mutilated beyond recognition- A feat that Fillmore's strength, arsenal, Johnny's explosives, or potential environmental usage could perform. The issue behind this, in totality, is that Johnny's universe between the movement in Heaven, Hell, and then Earth was destroyed and recreated by the red wall. It's unknown as to what degree Johnny's injuries had been impacted when his body stayed in the universe, as he only holds a bandage from the gunshot rather than when he got stomped out, and his position in itself was changed. For this reason, it's possible that Johnny could have been completely changed or healed by those responsible for recreating the universe, or otherwise from his trip in Hell to Earth. As a result, beyond Johnny's insane survivability, his immortality simply won't be considered a winning factor as it's too vague to use as a means of a win condition.

Conclusion

Madder Red

Advantages

  • Ultimately takes the stat trinity.
  • Better weaponry overall.
  • More mentally stable and fit to kill in a fight when pushed to limits.
  • Vastly more skilled and can immediately sense Johnny's intentions in a fight.
  • Similar survivability but able to fight with said injuries.
  • Better usage of gunplay.
  • Far more experienced.
  • Better drip.

Disadvantages

  • Lack of a willingness to kill could pose deadly if Fillmore weren't pressed into killing.
  • Likely unable to survive Johnny's explosives.
  • Fillmore might kill himself before he kills Johnny if he isn't enraged.
  • Someone might make him a Sigma edit.
  • Obscure comic.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

Advantages

  • Larger arsenal.
  • Better improvisation in combat.
  • More likely to kill.
  • Easy to piss off, which makes him more willing to end the fight quicker.
  • Explosives are really strong.
  • Immortality and survivability makes him hard to put down with melee combat.
  • Jhonen Vasquez.

Disadvantages

  • Notably weaker.
  • Immensely slower.
  • Could be caught in his own explosions.
  • Less mentally stable.
  • Much less experienced, cannot match Fillmore's predictions and intelligence at all.
  • Way weaker weaponry.
  • Worse usage of gunplay, unlikely to use in the first place.
  • Open at a range and can't counter Madder Red's gunfire.
  • DeviantArt.
Ultimately, when push comes to shove, these two maniacs can only leave one to come out of bedlam, and the advantages... kind of speak for themselves.

Johnny is an immensely powerful foe who murders people on the daily, which is completely true, but Madder Red is simply a more experienced combatant doing what Johnny does best for a... while actually. Given that Madder Red's experience has let him pick out people and their motives nearly instantly upon seeing a crime scene and knowing how a human body dies, he can make more accurate predictions as to what Johnny would wield in combat, and similarly he would be able to shut down any of Johnny's tactics that normally surprise his victims. Meanwhile, Johnny's never actually fought someone who's... well, fought back, without being absolutely dominated. Usually, the people he tears apart are helpless or too weak to do anything about it, but Fillmore would be the complete opposite!

Plus, with Fillmore's greater strength and immensely superior speed, he easily has the means to control the fight the way he wants to go, another tactic that Johnny has simply never fought against. Even if Johnny could make his way through being sawed in half with a chainsaw or filled with lead, he likely wouldn't be able to continue the fight given the display that Johnny coming back to Earth simply took more than the usual time omitted for immortal resurrection, assuming Johnny could even come back from those instances! Plus, even if Johnny had both the time and immortality possible, Fillmore's improvisation and knowledge on how people act could give him the idea that Johnny might be hiding... Oh, I don't know... explosives that can blow up entire buildings.

Simply put, while Johnny was a superpowered maniac able to dominate anyone he wanted dead while equally putting his life on the line by wanting to kill himself, Madder Red was a superpowered terrorist who could match the best of the best. Given enough time, Johnny would be filled-more with lead than he could withstand, too weak to press oNny, and truly unable to C. the uncertainty of winning. :)

The winner is Fillmore Press, Bedlam's Madder Red.
